2021.11.29 09:35 workacct20910 Another weekend of massive callouts - When will corporate fix the wages/staffing shortage
Two weeks ago as a part time Delivery OFA I was the only person in Lumber until 9:30. Ended up working in Lumber until noon. This weekend I was the only OFA in Delivery until 9:30. Three weeks ago I was in Receiving doing trucks for three hours. The same Delivery OFAs have called out on 3 straight Sundays. We're getting between 8-12 callouts for opening shifts each weekend morning. And it's not just the callouts...looking at Store Pulse I've pulled as many BOPIS as full time OFAs and in 10 times less time. The worst offender in our store literally has the same number of BOPIS pulls as I do at 300 minutes per order.
This is directly tied to shitty wages and it is causing burnout. I'm not getting paid to do three peoples jobs and I'm tired of it.

2021.11.29 09:35 FolxMxsterFinn I shared my diagnosis with family yesterday and their reaction was pleasantly refreshing.
My uncle, his gf, and my younger cousins (ages 11 and 14) came to visit for the first time in quite a while yesterday. We don't talk too much outside of visits, so they weren't aware yet of my new diagnosis, and I decided I wanted to share it with them as we were catching up.
I told them that it turned out I didn't have bipolar like doctors had long been telling me, but that instead I am autistic. I explained how it makes so much more sense for me, and how learning to use sensory aids and other soothing techniques has improved my anxiety ten times more than any of the pills I'd been been given.
They were so happy for me! There was no awkwardness or hesitation, they were genuinely delighted to hear that I had finally gotten a real answer and that I am feeling better than I have in a long time. My uncle in particular seemed excited to talk about it- I suspect that there is some level one autism lurking in his branch of the family, as he and both of his brothers (my dad being one of them) are all very introverted and intelligent computer engineers with an offbeat way of communicating and a lot of "fascinations" and "obsessions" they like to share with us whenever we see them. My uncle seemed very enthusiastic to learn about my autism and related a lot to many of the things I communicated. Then my little cousins started chiming in with ways that they experience the world a little different themselves- one of them talked about how she has to hear directions a certain way to understand fully, and another talked about her love of memorizing Greek words. I don't know that any of them actually have autism (though I wouldn't be too surprised if my uncle were to find out he did), but it was such a nice discussion of neurodiversity and learning differences in general.
It was just so refreshing because the entire conversation felt like a celebration of my autistic traits and how understanding them has brought me so much comfort. There was no shame, no concerned or embarrassed looks, no questioning of whether I was mentally fit. Just a greater understanding of the things that make me (and many of us!) a little different.
Just thought I'd share this positive experience here, as so often we face such different responses when we disclose our autism. There are people out there who will not look down on or be put off by this diagnosis- in fact, many of them may understand better than we expect!

2021.11.29 09:35 Weepy103 Moving to the Philippines
Hi everyone. I grew up abroad and have adapted a western culture, so despite being a filipino by blood, I feel like a foreigner. An Alien, more like. I'm moving to the Philippines pretty soon, and I am terrified.
I am terrified of the culture difference. Here, I do pretty well despite the fact that I am a generally quiet and shy person. I prefer quiet over loud. I rather hang out with lesser close friends than many friends. But whenever we visit the Philippines, I always feel pretty left out, like I weird people out? (I only get to go out with relatives). I am what we call a textbook introvert haha. Also my Tagalog is pretty basic. I only know the basic words, but I am somewhat decent at using those words
Another thing that terrifies me is how my future will be like now, now that I'm moving there. My family isn't rich, so for college, I might have to work first. I'm alright with that thought already. However, I did some research on Philippines and found out that the wages there are shockingly low. For comparison, low class jobs like retail offer 10USD per hour, while it is 10 times lower than that in the Philippines. Can I even save enough money for uni there?
I hope I didn't offend you guys. If I did I am very sorry, it wasn't my intention to. The purpose of me asking this is to hear out the opinions of the many Filipinos here.
Will I be able to survive? With my current situation as the foundation of my path towards my goal, which is to live in the US and have a good paying job (via degree), still be reachable?
